History of Our Kennel

Our first Scotties - Lady Pippin MacDoogle (Pippin) & Regis MacDoogleMy first, long-awaited Scottie, became a part of our family in 1987. Regis was a scruffy little guy who truly had the typical Scottie temperament.

Pippin came next in 1989. Pippin was a yodeler; she loved to announce herself, especially if she had captured a new toy! Shortly after Pippin came into our family, we brought home our first English Mastiff, Victory. Victory

While her conformation was very nice, her socialization had been seriously neglected and so we embarked on a course of obedience and eventually showed Victory in conformation competition.

In 1992, we matched her with a gorgeous male, CH. His Majesty's Lion of
Judah.  WIth just one insemination, Victory gave birth to 15 puppies on
December 2. We kept 3 pups from that litter and, since then, we've never lived with fewer than 4 mastiffs.

Our first litter of English Mastiffs!

Regis and Pippin gave us some wonderful puppies over the years.  PJ, their
last living offspring and our pet, left us quietly and without notice in
February 2006, at age 13. PJ had never been sick a day in her life and had
not one grey hair. Almost to the time of her death,  PJ would travel the 0.2
mile of our driveway and wait at the gate for my return.

These two breeds have shared our home and life for nearly two decades now.
Their personalities compliment each other very nicely and they all live
together, in our house.  Our kennel name comes from the combination of the
two, MAStiff and SCOTTish Terrier, hence Mascotts.

Our Scotties, like our Mastiffs, are primarily companions.  Most potential
adoptive homes want a healthy, well- balanced pet and really aren't
interested in competitive dog sports, but a number of our puppies have gone
on to be shown in conformation or compete in other activities such as
obedience, agility, and earthdog.  We do strive to better the breed and do
appropriate health testing.  We only plan breedings when we have a waiting
list of adoptive homes.

We belong to the Mastiff Club of America and The Colonial
Terrier Club
as well as Southeastern Mastiff Rescue  and Bullmastiff Rescue.
We encourage potential adoptive homes to seriously consider giving a home
to a dog in need over and above a puppy. While we would love to have you
as part of our extended VM family, we do feel strongly about rescue dogs and
you may find one is available and exactly what you were hoping to find in your
new addition (minus all the work of a puppy)!

Currently we are home to 7 English Mastiffs (Rosebud, Bailey, Daisy, Pax,
Poppy, ZuZu, and Clover), 2 Scotties (Kittee & Sweet Pea) and
Sweetie, the Bullmastiff.  How did that happen??? Rescue, of course!

If you live in the area, we also provide Daycare for your dog!
